Pre-slit PTFE/silicone septa provide reliable sealing solutions for a wide range of sample storage and analysis applications. These specialized septa designs combine the superior barrier properties of PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) with the elastic sealing properties of silicone rubber.
The pre-slit feature allows easy, repeatable sample access while maintaining a tight, self-sealing seal. This helps to prevent sample evaporation, contamination and degradation, ensuring the integrity of valuable compounds. The PTFE/silicone composition provides a chemically inert barrier, making these septa compatible with a wide range of solvents, acids, bases and other corrosive sample matrices.
The pre-opened septum provides adequate venting and prevents the formation of a vacuum in the sample, resulting in excellent reproducibility of vial aspiration.
If the injection volume is very small, pre-opened vial caps should be used. Pre-opened septa help to ensure reproducible pipetting of samples from vials.
Pre-opened septa are compatible with a range of autosampler tip materials, including PEEK and metal tips.
